Lucuma (pronounced Loo-Ku-Mah) is an exotic Peruvian fruit that the Inca’s honored spiritually. It played a large part in the ancient Peruvian cultural celebrations.

Lucuma is a nutrient dense fruit that smells divine and has a sweet exotic flavor similar to maple syrup and vanilla. It is sweet to the taste but has a low glycemic index which makes it a good sweetener substitute. This Lucuma is made by dehydrating and stone grinding the pulp of the fruit into a fine powder. Certified organic, low temperature processed, raw and delicious, the possibilities are limited only by your imagination!

Lucuma is an excellent source of carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals and fiber. It is abundant in iron, beta-carotene (which makes it an immune system booster) and also has a significant amount of calcium and phosphorus. It is rich in B1 and B2 and is high in Niacin, which makes it a cholesterol and triglyceride balancer.

Ingredients:
1 cup raw cashews
1/2 cup lucuma powder
1/4 cup yacon syrup or coconut syrup
1 Tablespoon vanilla bean powdert
1 cup filtered water

Directions:
Place all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth. Put into a container and place in the freezer overnight.

Suggested Use:
Lucuma can be added to baby food or as a substitute for sugar in desserts or smoothies to help give that creamy sweet texture. Sprinkle some on top of your favorite granola or mix some into your tea for a rich sweet flavour.

For an extra special treat, combine lucuma powder with some raw cacao nibs, vanilla bean, and coconut butter. Blend into a creamy delight. Lucuma powder can also add creamy sweetness to a smoothie.
